Preparing for a future with millions of users, Sweet Tech are in need a smart and ambitious DevOps Engineer who is willing to break new ground, ensuring  the best possible experience to our users!

Sweet Tech is operating in an unconventional industry — sex-tech — which means we have a lot of fun and face many unique challenges. We are growing at a rapid pace and we’re preparing for a future with millions of users. For this to succeed, we need a smart and ambitious DevOps Engineer who is willing to break new ground, ensuring that our customers get the best possible experience.

Sweet Tech

Sweet Tech is a sex-tech start-up that combines innovative hardware with customizable digital connectivity to create a complete and fulfilling physical experience. Our mission is to create positive sexual experiences and make it available for everyone.

Our flagship product, The Handy, is available worldwide through our online store (www.thehandy.com) and connects to our online platform, Handy Feeling (www.handyfeeling.com).   We aim to provide tools for everyone to explore their body and sexuality and to make people feel comfortable in their own skin. We believe that the key for a good sexual health is openness, creativity and inclusion. We want to normalize sexual curiosity and drive sex positivity.

We are a young but already profitable company, and we are backed by strong investors. We are growing fast, and we are looking for the right people to join us on our journey.

Being a DevOps Engineer at Sweet Tech

Our software platform is what makes The Handy an amazing interactive experience. The Handy has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities and — through our APIs and front-end services — can connect to numerous video partners and community-created projects.

Today, the Handy can be controlled over the Internet — opening up the possibility of long-distance sexual experiences. It can also synchronize with video content, re-creating the experiences on screen in real life. Our open API allows developers to do things like integrate the Handy with products like Google Home or Amazon Echo and connect the Handy to games and other media.

As one of the members of the Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining backend and infrastructure services needed for us to scale our software operations.

Our backend and infrastructure are built with Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services, NATS, Engine.io, Redis, PostgreSQL, Nginx and Node.js / Typescript. As a start-up we move fast, but because we build for the long-term, we also try to slow down and use industry best practices to make sure our software is well tested and continuously deployed.

Specific tasks and responsibilities:

  • Solve problems in APIs that bridge the gap between hardware and software
  • Develop software tools to improve our backend infrastructure
  • Scale our services and process to ensure our platform is future-ready
  • Investigate network and connectivity issues in our service and resolve them
  • Work with product stakeholders to plan and manage releases

We have a lot of fun plans for this position for future projects as well, that we can tell you a lot more about!

You’re a great fit if you:

You don’t need to be an expert in every technology we use — there’s a lot of room for specialization — but you should be comfortable with cloud infrastructure and general backend programming. Other than this, we are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoy building scalable to support thousands of concurrent users
  • Have a passion for creating reliable and stable systems
  • Are interested in the interface between software and hardware products
  • Care deeply about user privacy and software security
  • Thrive in a diverse, international and multi-disciplinary team of developers and designers

*You also need to be willing to move to Oslo, Norway (we will help you), and non-EU/EEA citizens must have completed a bachelor’s degree to be eligible for a work permit in Norway.
